How to Configure Outlook to Receive Emails from Your cPanel Webmail
Introduction
If you use cPanel to host your email accounts and want to manage your emails directly from Microsoft Outlook, this guide will walk you through the process of configuring Outlook to send and receive emails from your cPanel webmail.
Prerequisites
- A working cPanel email account (e.g.,
you@yourdomain.com
) - Microsoft Outlook installed on your PC or Mac
- Access to your cPanel email settings: Incoming and Outgoing server details, username, and password
Step-by-Step Setup
- Open Microsoft Outlook.
- Go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings.
- Click on New to add a new email account.
- Select Manual setup or additional server types and click Next.
- Choose POP or IMAP and click Next.
- Fill in the following information:
Field Details Your Name Your display name (e.g., John Doe) Email Address Your full cPanel email address (e.g., you@yourdomain.com) Account Type IMAP (recommended) or POP3 Incoming mail server mail.yourdomain.com Outgoing mail server (SMTP) mail.yourdomain.com Username Your full email address (e.g., you@yourdomain.com) Password Your email account password - Click on More Settings.
- Go to the Outgoing Server tab and check My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication. Select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
- Go to the Advanced tab and configure the ports and encryption:
- Incoming server (IMAP): Port 993 with SSL/TLS enabled
- Incoming server (POP3): Port 995 with SSL/TLS enabled
- Outgoing server (SMTP): Port 465 or 587 with SSL/TLS enabled
- Click OK, then Next, and Outlook will test the account settings.
- If tests complete successfully, click Finish to complete the setup.
Note: If you encounter errors, double-check your username and password, ensure your domain’s DNS records (MX and SPF) are properly configured, and verify the mail server settings with your hosting provider.
